from my preception of the diverse people around me, my life experience and roots. It's a direct reflection of who I am, a window into my existence and interest. How I view the world and connect. Initially starting with ink and acrylic, I’ve progressed to specialize in watercolor.
From a young age, art allowed me to find a way to express what caught my eyes, interpret feelings and the beauty of reality around me. I create light in my subjects through monochromatic and multi-color schemes. Light and shadow accentuate facial features that help the pictures come to life. While acrylic lets me build fast sharp color, watercolor requires my tender patience and encouragement. The people I paint all challenge societal beauty standards and heteronorms. My art demands room for folx to be respresented, hopefully provoking others to question their own idea of beauty and identity. The plants and flowers in my art are as natural as the people that inspire me to keep creating art. I naturally notice them. |
