Tyler Kissel
|
For several years, Tyler Kissel has produced a consistent yet progressive style of art by using techniques that he has honed as an adolescent in the modern graffiti culture, and applying this skill set to the world of fine art. He has exalted as a designer in the eyes of art and furniture collectors throughout his career. From the fractured design line work in his coffee tables and wall hangings, to the depiction of overgrowth and decay in his hand as a miniaturist and illustrator, Kissel has proven himself an original artificer in his field of work.
"A lot of people find the new and shiny more appealing than the old and broken, and I am not exempt from this attraction. Though through my work I try to embrace the rust, cracking and neglect of something as its natural beauty. In this industrial age when something is new it is not natural at all. It is only over time that it acquires attributes that make it natural to our reality. In my work I do my best to admire this rather than ignore it." |
