Victoria Drake I came from an abusive home, the kind of place where you are not allowed to have your own voice. I turned to Art to cope. I paint to express the things that I cannot verbalize. All of us have bruised souls, some of us more than others. I own a disfigured soul. I discovered that making Art is the purest form of self-expression. In some of my Art, I tend to show what I am going through. I also show that no matter what you go through, you must allow your heart to keep going and keep growing. Let’s just call it growing pains. Although my Art is imperfect, it reflects my inner soul. Nothing and no one is perfect. We are all damaged goods. I use Art to show case my voice that I am now allowed to have. The experiences in life make you who you are but it does not have to define who you are as a person. |
